Winston: In spite of a rough beginning that included being ignored and then abandoned by his family, Winston has a joy that radiates from the top of his adorable block head to the tip of his exuberant tail. With the wide-eyed innocence of a baby and a heart of gold, Winston has nary an aggressive bone in his body. A real people-pleaser, he’s also good with dogs, approaching other dogs with a wiggle that moves effortlessly through his body. He’s the foster brother to two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, who alternately play with him-when they can keep up with his rambunctious puppy energy-and teach him the ropes). He is inquisitive, charming, funny and oh-so-eager to please. And smart? Wow!! He’s an incredible quick learner who, in a very short time, after having had no previous training, ‘comes’ on command, ‘sits’ on cue, is reluctantly getting the hang of ‘leave it’ and ‘stay’, and clearly understands ‘no!’ (but do try to give him something you can say ‘yes’ to as often as possible, then watch him wiggle and smile!) He’s a champion jumper and fast as the wind. With a good hour long excursion each day(sandwiched b/w two brief walks), he’s calm and peaceful as a stuffed teddy bear in the house . He attaches happily and readily to the human love of his life, so he’ll want to be your shadow, or curl up in your lap or at your feet. He’s truly a bucket of love. Winston presently weighs about 75 pounds and may reach 80-90 pounds at full size. He is about a year old. This is a happy, smart, playful, delightful pup who’s growing into a well-behaved and really great dog. He’s crate trained, and a joy in the house (does not go or gnaw on furniture!), but he’s still a young boy who will be happiest in a home with a fenced yard, with an active family or athletic single where he will get in a good run or hike each day, and not yet be without human companionship for longer than 4 hours at a stretch. This big teddy bear is waiting for his forever home to give endless love and joy to one lucky family.
